Precinct 7, one of the eleven precincts along the 10.7km River of Life project, is the historical, geographical and social heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur. Surrounded by impressive civic and historical buildings, the area has the make-up of an iconic downtown, where local and international visitors come to shop, stay and enjoy. The iconic buildings and destinations include Merdeka Square, Masjid Jamek and Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.

The Heritage Quarter is all about furthering conservation efforts while activating the area. Urban infill throughout the district activates the pockets of dead energy around the highly attractive tourist region creating more contemporary nodes.

Tourists are treated to a network of attractions all connected with riverside promenades and green pockets. Important landmarks are preserved while surrounding buildings are reprogrammed to add energy to the area. What is currently a historical district strictly looking towards the past, becomes a civic district concerned with not only its history but also the quality of life for its people. The newly injected program enriches the recognised district, raising the value of experience for both locals and tourists.
