City Orchard Park is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, in leafy suburban Jalan Ballemy. The land was previously use as a garbage tip. After landfill final surfaces were applied, it become an open, derelict piece of land, devoid of character and attributed with a negative character.
We visualized the great potential and community benefits, pitched an “idea” to the Malaysian Government to rehabilitate this piece of land. The concept is to provide diverse recreational options and a new learning environment for the city. It is both socially and economically beneficial to the district and demonstrates that local produce can be grown within an urban environment. Orchard Park provides educational and edutainment opportunities for school groups and adults.
The Orchard Park is an excellent example of the successful rehabilitation of a compromised urban site.
